Today’s fabulous fast food option is the humble banana. Bananas are high in potassium. They have around 600 mg per medium banana. Why is potassium important? This unassuming mineral helps your muscles function properly, as well as aiding your digestive system do its thing better. Bananas also have the vitamins A, B, E, K and C, as well as folic acid. Bananas do have sugars, but because they come in a complete nutritional package with fiber and vitamins, they don’t unbalance blood sugar levels like refined sugars. The carbohydrates found in the banana provide quick-acting long-term energy. Bananas also contain tryptophan. Tryptophan can aid in increasing serotonin in the brain, which keeps you feeling happy and energized.
